But wait, what do you mean? What is freeform storytelling?
Freeform Storytelling (or freeform roleplay) is a form of roleplaying where technical aspects like the D20 system or other common dynamics are minimalized and sometimes taken out completely to focus on the true aspect of roleplaying. Crafting a story, not a game. The style can be attributed to the novelization format.
- "The character's sentence." the character said as he did this action.
This much is obvious. The GM is still very much apparent and will guide the player (and his or her character) through the world, sometimes initiating his/her own character, as well as pertaining to NPC's and surroundings. In this system I prefer to use a automatic dice system occasionally, but it is minimal and rare (and depends on the mood I'm in!) but generally this is freeform storytelling. Just logic, fairness and your literate writing.
What I refer to as logic and fairness is using your head when making decisions (unless your character isn't that thoughtful, which would be boring in my opinion) and not correlating to powerplaying or modding. This means not being realistic to the extent of fairness, your character has to develop. He or She is not a expert in any given craft. Just like a 'game'-based roleplay, I ask you to start from rags and develop into riches. Not start at riches. Do not overextend your concept. Fairness.

My roleplay is not told via email but that is not left out as not a option. But I would much like to say this is a RP system that takes place over a IM program, I have most IM programs outside of ICQ, which I think is outdated.
